I feel terrible throwing out perfectly good glass bottles and jars, but have had such a hard time figuring out how to remove the labels and glue. I spent hours trying to get them clean and I usually just gave up and threw them away. Until I found this solution :) Make sure to soak your bottles overnight in hot water otherwise the process will be more difficult. The labels come off much easier, and any glue that's left is nice and gummy and ready to take off.
For those of you attempting to do this on an electronic item, please do not soak or rinse in water. You can apply a warm damp towel for the steps that require hot water.
